Washington, D.C., (December 16, 2008) – More than a dozen national recording artists have joined forces with WHUR 96.3 FM – Howard University to help combat hunger in the Washington, D.C. area, recording a special holiday DVD/CD. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to and support “Food2Feed”, WHUR’s non-profit organization which seeks to provide needy residents with traditional holiday meals.

The “Soul of the Holidays” DVD/CD is a one-hour holiday musical extravaganza, featuring some of the industry’s top music artists performing contemporary renditions of popular classical holiday songs. The special was recorded live at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts in Bowie, Maryland .

Artists like Brian Culbertson, Maysa, Phil Perry, Mike Phillips, Plunky, Tony Rich, Spur of the Moment, Angie Stone, and Vanessa Renee Williams gave freely of their time and talents to make the DVD/CD possible. “We are very grateful that so many artists were able to collaborate on this project. The DVD/CD is a great stocking stuffer, but most importantly it will help increase awareness about the plight of the hungry while raising money to feed needy families,” said DVD/CD and WHUR General Manager Jim Watkins.
