iHeartmedia (formerly Clear Channel)’s powerhouse WGCI in Chicago quickly deleted a transphobic tweet where iHeartmedia (formerly Clear Channel) announcer UB Rodriquez describes John Legend’s new video exclaiming “Looks like John Legend has a tranny in his new video.” Rodriquez was referring to Transgendered actor and Emmy nominee Laverne Cox one of the stars of the Netflix smash series Orange is the New Black.  Cox has stated in several interviews that she was severely bullied as a child and she wants to end discrimination against and a greater understanding for transgendered people by making herself an example. The street term “Tranny” is considered an insult according to the transgendered community. No word from the station but the slur is making rounds around many blogs and LGBT sites.
