On April 26th New York Times and Essence magazine bestselling author Wahida Clark will offer, Justify My Thug, the 5th novel from her dramatic and erotic “Thug Love Series” released through Cash Money Content, a new imprint distributed through Atria/Simon & Schuster.

Clark, the creator of the sub-genre of Street Literature dubbed “Thug Love Fiction,” has sold more than 350,000 copies from the series, which includes, Thugs and the Women Who Love Them (2005) and Every Thug Needs a Lady (2006), both of which appeared on the Essence magazine bestseller list. Thug Matrimony, hit shelves in April of 2007, and Thug Lovin’ was released in August of 2009.   Her latest, the highly anticipated Justify My Thug, continues the saga which follows four girlfriends addicted to the fast-paced life of money, crime and danger, while also suffering the consequences that come along with falling in love with the hood’s most notorious thugs.

Wahida Clark on the title Justify My Thug: “Justify means to prove or show; to be just, right or reasonable. My characters come up against real life situations which result in certain actions.   They must justify to themselves in their minds, why they made a particular decision or took a particular action. They have to “˜Justify their Thug.’ This is where I was coming from with the title.   And plus, the title is HOT!”

A native of the tough streets of Trenton, New Jersey, Wahida Clark began writing fiction while serving a 10 ½ year sentence for money laundering, mail fraud and wire fraud at the federal prison camp in Lexington, Kentucky.   She was released in 2007, after having already written her first 3 novels of the “Thug Love Series” AND consulting with fellow inmate and multimillionaire business woman, Martha Stewart on her business plan for Wahida Clark Presents Publishing.   Wahida Clark Presents is now a successful company with 11 titles currently in stores and is home to more than 10 authors of street fiction.

As well as an accomplished author, Wahida Clark is a motivational speaker who has shared her amazing story at high schools in New York and New Jersey, and Halfway Houses such as Bo Robinson and Tully House in New Jersey, to name a few.   In her effort to give back to her community, Wahida Clark serves as Vice President of the nonprofit organization Prodigal Sons and Daughters Redirection Services, a re-entry program for convicts and ex-convicts based in East Orange , NJ .   She is also Vice President of Phoenix Academy Inc., an organization that provides support groups and mentors for at-risk youth, whose ultimate mission is to establish charter and vocational training schools.
