Vintage Music Industry Picture: Impact Magazine 1992 Urban Music Industry Executives

width=Several sites have premiered on FB honoring the legacy of the urban radio and music industry. This picture came up today (credit to Gregg Diggs) of how urban radio once enjoyed several weekly must-read trade publications spotlighting and showcasing urban industry executives.   Some of the greatest urban industry trades were/are:

  • Jack the Rapper (Granddaddy of all Urban Trades and Music Conferences, unfortunate crash in the early 90s)
  • BRE (still producing)
  • Rhythm and Business Magazine (ceased production)
  • Impact (ceased production)
  • Urban Network (unsure of current production)
  • RFFocus (converted to a blog in 2003)
CEO of RF Focus, Radio and Music Industry Veteran. Radio DJ, Programmer, Musician and Voice Talent. Graduated from Performing Arts in Buffalo, N.Y. and worked at the legendary KKBT (92.3 The Beat) during its nationwide heyday in the early 90s. Also worked for Stevie Wonder at KJLH.
