Today is HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

I’m still not quite accustomed to black ministers joining the /AIDS fight until the last 12 months (25 YEARS after hundreds of thousand s of ) but I guess it’s better VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY late than never… The /AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD) is recognized each year today, February 7th. NBHAAD is a national mobilization effort designed to encourage black people to get educated, get tested, get treated, and get involved with /AIDS, as it continues to devastate black communities.

Sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day planners and organizers nationwide committed to increasing awareness of this deadly disease. Celebrity spokespersons involved in this year’s campaign include: , , . Creflo Dollar, Tony Dungy, , Sydney Poitier, , and , among others.

HIV/AIDS is a leading killer of black men and women. Many of those who are infected with the disease are unaware of their HIV status and may unknowingly transmit the virus to others. This is why it’s critical for blacks to get educated, get tested, get treated and get involved! For more information go here
