width=Alliance for and Dove ®, the global beauty brand, announce that Shaun Robinson is the recipient of the 2011 Dove Real Beauty Award. The award will be presented at the 36th Annual Awards Gala on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

Alliance for Women in Media and Dove created the Dove Real Beauty Award to honor an individual who best embodies and expresses the “substance and spirit” of real beauty through her life and career. Shaun is an Emmy Award-winning journalist and weekend co-anchor and correspondent for the show . A strong advocate for empowering young girls, Shaun serves on the board of the non-profit youth organization Girls, Inc., has celebrated exceptional teenage girls by co-creating and co-hosting the “I Am Perfect ““ Exactly As I Am” event, and is the author of the inspiring book about girls and self-esteem, Exactly As I Am: Celebrated Women Share Candid Advice with Today’s Girls on What it Takes to Believe in Yourself.

She won an Emmy for her live coverage of “A Grand Night in Harlem” for the Black Sports and Entertainment Hall of Fame and has been a featured columnist for Essence.com and Cosmo as well as a guest editor for Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty. Shaun was also invited by the Obama Administration’s U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas to speak to girls on the island about the issue of self-esteem based on her book, Exactly As I Am.
