Philadelphia Latino radio will never be the same when JosÃ© Rivera aka “Joey Rivera” & Guillermo Melendez aka “Guillo el Lokillo” wake up the Latino community in the Delaware Valley with “El Gufeo de la MaÃ±ana” – “The Morning Goof-off” – a new live and local morning show for everybody. The show offers a mix of funny bits, characters, crank calls, parodies, news, interviews plus the Salsa music listeners have come to enjoy – Monday through Friday from 5:30 to 10:00 AM starting Monday January 31, 2011.
Joey Rivera was born in Puerto Rico and started his career in radio at the age of 17 at Mega 1310 in Philadelphia. Rivera worked his way up through numerous positions to become programming assistant before coming to Rumba where he’s the station’s Program Director.
Guillo el Lokillo began his radio career at the young age of eight at La Buena 1330 in Yauco, Puerto Rico. El Lokillo has worked up and down the East Coast at stations that included Hola 1600 in Allentown, PA, and Route 81 Radio in Scranton, PA. He had been working in the Pennsylvania area in since to 2004 in various capacities as a production assistant, morning show host and mix show host.

10:00 AM to 3:00 pm listen to the newest member of the Rumba team – Lourdes “La Gitana de la Salsa” – “The Salsa Gipsy.” Lourdes is the only female on the air on Spanish Radio in the Philadelphia market and will play the best of salsa music from yesterday and today. At noon she hosts “Rumba Classics” – a variety of oldies salsa from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s.
3:00-4:00 PM Rumba dedicates an hour to one of the biggest legends of salsa music with “La Hora Del Combo” hosted by Joey Rivera.
4:00-5:00 PM Rumba offers an hour of the Best of the “El Gufeo de la MaÃ±ana” Show.
When baseball season starts Rumba will broadcast the Philadelphia Phillies through the Spanish Baseball Network starting at 6:30 PM.
The slogan for the 24/7 salsa station is “El Poder Salsero” or “Salsa Power.” Rumba’s playlist includes artists like the Fania All Stars, Tito Rojas, Jerry Rivera with a wide range of the best salsa from the “˜70″˜s, “˜80’s, and 90’s through the present.
