DreamWorks Animation (DWA) and Rondor Music International, a subsidiary of Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), have agreed to an exclusive, worldwide music publishing administration agreement. Lance Freed, President of Rondor Music, made the announcement. The long term deal includes the entire DWA music catalog created over the past two decades, as well as music included in future DWA films, television programs and live entertainment properties. DWA and Rondor plan to collaborate on a number of creative initiatives, which include opportunities for Rondor and UMPG writers and artists to contribute music to DWA productions.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to embark on this new relationship with DreamWorks Animation,” said Lance Freed. “DreamWorks consistently finds new and exciting ways to create the best in high quality family entertainment and connect it with a global audience. This is a remarkable opportunity for our writers and artists to be involved with those compelling productions ”
DreamWorks Animation is celebrating its 20th Anniversary as a leader in high quality CG animated feature films, televisions specials and series, and live entertainment properties. These include franchise properties such as “Shrek”, “Madagascar”, “Kung Fu Panda”, “How To Train Your Dragon”, “Puss In Boots” and “The Croods”. DWA is also involved in a host of innovative cross platform initiatives to reach the broadest possible audiences. These include the recently launched DreamWorks TV–a family oriented YouTube channel that combines short form content from the familiar faces of DWA movies with new reality and animated programming, the landmark deal with Netflix for 300 hours of online programming inspired by DWA characters, and the DWA owned Awesomeness TV–one of the most subscribed to video destinations for teens on the internet that features a broad cross section of series and channels built around pop musicians, A list athletes, TV personalities and YouTube stars.
DWA’s new administration agreement with Rondor attests to UMPG’s position as a global leader for film and television administration, joining such other companies as Warner Entertainment, Universal Studios, NBC, HBO, Sesame Workshop and many others who utilize UMPG’s best-in-class systems and processes.
