With season 5 still in production has green-lit Power for a sixth season. This comes as no surprise after a critically acclaimed fourth season which saw the drama garner 9.3 million viewers an episode.

The show was created by Courtney A. Kemp, who previously wrote for hits like The Bernie Mac Show and The Good Wife, and Curtis “” Jackson. Jackson’s G-Unit Films and Television also produces the show alongside Atmosphere Entertainment.

Power is a crime-drama that follows the story of James “Ghost” St. Patrick () as he navigates his transition from drug-trafficker to legitimate businessman. The show is loosely based on 50 cent’s own life and Jackson will get a chance to step from in front of the camera and into the director’s chair for the premiere episode of .

Season 5 premieres July 1st at 9pm on Starz.
