Following its debut last year at the Toronto International Film Festival, King of the Dancehall, produced by Nick Cannon’s NCREDIBLE Productions, will make its debut on YouTube Red tomorrow, August 2 on Russell Simmons’s All Def Digital channel. Cannon – who serves as writer, director and executive producer – stars in this Jamaican dancehall drama alongside Academy® Award-winner Whoopi Goldberg (“The View”), multi-platinum selling rapper Busta Rhymes, newcomer Kimberly Patterson, actress Kreesha Turner, and Academy® and Emmy® Award-winning actor Louis Gossett Jr.
In KING OF THE DANCEHALL, the Brooklyn-born hero (played by Cannon) heads to Jamaica to start a new chapter after a major setback forces him to quickly leave town. He falls for a local girl in Kingston who introduces him to dancehall culture, and soon discovers a newfound passion for dance. As he works towards rebuilding his life and winning a prestigious contest, his past decisions and a powerful underworld threaten to undermine his journey towards redemption.
