VP or Urban Programming has reached out to the industry for: “Turn up for .” Davis is the Jacksonville, FL teen that was murdered by a 47 year old assailant who asked Jordan and his friends to turn down the radio in the car they sat in at a local gas station on November 23rd.  http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/jordandavis/default.aspx. Without violating any noise ordinances, WJBT asked listeners around Duval County to “turn up their radios in honor of Jordan Davis and to respect each others differences. Our differences should never cost a life.”   We also played Jordan’s favorite song, The Brothers Johnson “Strawberry Letter 23” and songs from his favorite rapper, . Station reps stated

Jordan’s was in Atlanta yesterday, where his family was originally from.   PD also asked V103 listener’s to “Turn up for Jordan Davis” at 12pm eastern yesterday, as Jordan’s funeral was commencing.   Jordan’s parents have fully supported our desire to bring attention to this senseless death that could have happened to any of our kids.   We all know that if Jordan was a little girl from a “nice community” this story would get the attention it merits. iHeartmedia (formerly Clear Channel)’s plan is to ask listeners across the country to “turn up their music for Jordan Davis” next Friday, December 7th   at 5pm eastern. The company is asking for participation from urban artists by recording teasers supporting Davis.

  1. I’m sorry the young man lost his life, and the man that shot him was WRONG for doing so.

However, on the “Turn it Up” side … Please Stop the Ignorance!

Enough already with the rattlin trunks and music blasting beneath vehicles … and might I add Un-Edited Music. It’s disrespectful of yourself and others.

I hate that this young man had to lose his life to this …. and I pray there’s a trial and remorse and justice served
