Kevin Weaver Named President, Film & Television For Atlantic Records Group

Kevin Weaver has been promoted to the newly created position of President, Film & Television, for the Atlantic Records Group, it was announced by Atlantic Records Group Chairman/CEO Craig Kallman and Chairman/COO Julie Greenwald. Based in Los Angeles, he will also retain his current title of Executive Vice President, Atlantic Records Group, a post he has held since 2009. A 20-year veteran of the music industry, Weaver began his career at Atlantic Records in 1994.

In his new post, Weaver will continue to oversee the creation and placement of Atlantic-affiliated music across all visual media – including film, television, and video games – as well as being responsible for developing and overseeing soundtrack projects, strategic alliances, media placements, licensing opportunities, and marketing initiatives. In addition, Weaver has expanded his five-year-old music publishing co-venture with Atlantic Records and Warner/Chappell Music, signing and developing new writers and producers with a focus on creating new songs for specific film and TV opportunities.

Weaver has served as producer, executive producer, and/or A&R Executive on numerous soundtrack albums. Among his most recent Atlantic Group projects have been HBO’s Behind The Candelabra, two volumes of music from the hbo series Girls – the first of which helped drive the smash success of Icona Pop’s “I Love It,” and the upcoming Rio 2 (featuring new music from Bruno Mars, Janelle Monae, and B.o.B) and The Fault In Our Stars, based on the #1 New York Times Best Seller. He is also an Executive Producer of the upcoming film Charm City Boys, with the soundtrack to be released by Rick Ross’s MMG via Atlantic.

Among Weaver’s many previous soundtrack credits are HBO’s Boardwalk Empire – for which he won the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, and two volumes of music from HBO’s True Blood, which earned him a pair of Grammy nominations. He has also been responsible for numerous single tie-ins with feature films, including The Hangover Parts I & II. He produced CeeLo Green’s Christmas TV special, CeeLo’s Magic Moment, and orchestrated the “All I Need Is Love” single tie-in with Disney’s The Muppets.

Most recently, Weaver spearheaded the deal for an NBC primetime concert special starring Coldplay, in conjunction with the May 19th release of their first album for Parlophone/Atlantic, Ghost Stories. Also included in the NBC pact is a stint by Coldplay’s Chris Martin as a mentor on The Voice.

On the publishing front, Weaver’s signing of Swedish band The Royal Concept has led to over 50 sync placements in the last year, including Glee, a Lipton tea commercial, and American Idol season launch spots. He has also been responsible for CW network upfronts and image campaigns featuring Flo rida and Icona Pop; helped introduce Christina Perri to Atlantic via her performance on TV’s So You Think You Can Dance; and worked with the Mexico Tourism Board on the music video for Flo Rida’s global smash “Whistle.”
