CBS RADIO today announced it has signed a multi-year contract renewal with Kevin Weatherly where he will continue to serve in his roles as Senior Vice President of Programming, CBS RADIO and Program Director of Los Angeles’ KROQ-FM, KAMP-FM, and KCBS-FM – ensuring one of the most influential programmers in the industry remains with the Company for a number of years. As part of the programming leadership team who has been with CBS RADIO and KROQ for almost 25 years, Weatherly will continue to be closely involved with the Company’s diverse content initiatives. Weatherly also advises the Company’s rock, alternative and adult hits stations across the country as format captain, and contributes to the brand strategy of the Company both on-air and digitally.
“Kevin’s influence and impact on the content development of our company, and particularly our LA music stations, over the last twenty five years is unmatched,” said Chris Oliviero, Executive Vice President, Programming. “We couldn’t be happier that he’ll continue on his journey with CBS RADIO as a key contributor to the ongoing evolution and growth of our programming platforms.”
“Kevin has proven time and time again that he is one of the leading authorities in music radio, not only in the Los Angeles market, but in the industry,” added Dan Kearney, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, CBS RADIO Los Angeles. “His strength and ability to build, cultivate, and evolve stations, like KROQ, KAMP and KCBS, is evidenced through the numerous awards and distinctions he has been honored with through the years. I am thrilled he will be with us for years to come.”
“I’m grateful to CBS RADIO for their support throughout the years and for letting me continue to do what I love doing,” said Weatherly. “I couldn’t think of anywhere else I would rather be – there is no better job. I am very fortunate to be able to work alongside some of the best talent in the industry.”
Weatherly has been honored numerous times for his accomplishments in the industry with awards and distinctions from respected radio and music publications, including Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Business Journal, the NAB, FMQB, Radio Ink, and Radio and Records, amongst others.
He is most recognized for his overwhelming achievements at No. 1 alternative rock station KROQ featuring the distinguishable morning duo of Kevin and Bean. In addition, he is also behind the successes and programming of Adult Hits station Jack FM and Top 40 station 97.1 AMP Radio. During his tenure in the market, Weatherly has signed a number of notable radio personalities including Carson Daly and Booker, and assembled numerous events and concerts for listeners.
