Apparently you can’t even listen to the radio today without someone trying to start something. People must have nothing better to do because Houston hip-hop and R&B station, KBXX 97.9 is currently looking into how the word “Ni**er!” was sent out via the radio station’s dashboard display throughout Houston.
Several listeners tweeted images Sunday night that showed KBXX 97.9 The Box broadcasting “Ni**er!” on radio displays where song info is typically shown. The audio portion of the broadcast was apparently not affected.
“#NoPlaceForHate … Saluting our staff and listeners for immediate help in addressing the hack that occurred earlier this evening.”
“On Sunday, July 26th at approximately 9:20 p.m. Radio One identified that our Radio Data System (RDS) was hacked. This violation caused radio car displays to read obscenities on the 97.9 FM The Box frequency. This matter was addressed promptly by our engineers. We thank all of our listeners for sounding off on social media to ensure we knew about this issue. The #NoPlaceForHate hashtag was immediately created as a response to this unfortunate incident. Our mission to inform, inspire and entertain our listeners will not be compromised by haters.”
