JEFF KAPUGI NAMED CBS RADIO’S VICE PRESIDENT, COUNTRY PROGRAMMING

JEFF GARRISON TO TAKE ON NEW ROLE AS VICE PRESIDENT,
COUNTRY ARTIST RELATIONS FOR CBS RADIO STATIONS NATIONWIDE

Jeff Kapugi has been named Program Director for WUSN “US 99.5″ in Chicago, one of the most listened to station in America; and Vice President, Country Programming, CBS RADIO; it was announced today by Rod Zimmerman, Senior Vice President and Market Manager for CBS RADIO Chicago, and Greg Strassell, Senior Vice President, Programming, CBS RADIO, respectively.

The appointments are effective Monday, December 5. Kapugi will remain in his current position as Program Director for CBS RADIO’s KEZK and KYKY in St. Louis through November.

“Jeff (Kapugi) has worked at a variety of radio stations throughout his career, successfully entertaining audiences by presenting the perfect balance of personality and ,” said Zimmerman. “WUSN holds an exceptional place in the world of country music and we look forward to using Jeff’s experience and creativity to produce added benefit to our listeners.”

In a related announcement, Jeff Garrison will serve in the newly created position of Vice President, Country Artist Relations with a focus on developing cross-platform artist promotions using CBS RADIO’s powerful lineup of leading country music stations and the Company’s expansive digital and mobile assets. He will continue as for CBS RADIO Phoenix and Program Director of KMLE.

A recognized name in radio for three decades, Garrison has been instrumental in building CBS RADIO’s portfolio of country music stations. He has won numerous awards for his work, and created tremendously popular programs with the biggest names in the industry.

Added Strassell, “Our country radio stations have experienced growth where we’ve applied new, non-traditional country tactics. And there are a number of exciting opportunities that remain untapped. Today’s announcements make the best use of two amazingly talented programmers with individual strengths and relationships in the music business.”

Prior to joining CBS RADIO in November 2010, Kapugi was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Tribune Interactive in Chicago since September 2008. For nearly three years prior to that, he was Regional Vice President, Programming for ‘s 11 stations located in Washington , D.C. and Baltimore, and also held the lead programming responsibilities for WIHT.

Kapugi’s country experience includes Operations Manager of WMZQ/D.C. and WPOC/Baltimore, along with start-up participation at KSD/St Louis and WFUS/Tampa. Additionally, he held Operations Manager and Program Director titles at iHeartmedia (formerly Clear Channel) stations in Tampa (WFLZ, WMTX, WBTP, WDUV) and St. Louis (KSLZ, KLOU). Kapugi was graduated from Columbia College in Chicago with a degree in communications.
