GRAMMYs Go to LyricFind for Licensed Lyrics

lyricfind-gracenote-larry-marcusLyricFind, the world’s largest lyric licensing service, is proud to announce its partnership with The Recording Academy® to license lyrics for various marketing and social media initiatives.

In licensing lyric displays to The Recording Academy, LyricFind guarantees the legal use of artists’ work legal while contributing royalties to songwriters. When The Recording Academy and or the GRAMMYs® post a line or snippet from a song, LyricFind ensures that it is being done in accordance with all applicable laws, and that rights-holders receive appropriate compensation. In addition, LyricFind further supports this partnership by covering the royalty expenses for all retweets and reposts of GRAMMY-generated social media material.

Protecting the rights of artists is at the core of this partnership. “The Recording Academy and LyricFind are united supporting rightholders and being good industry citizens,” explains LyricFind CEO Darryl Ballantyne. “We’re treating these lyric excerpts the way we’d treat a full lyric display, and paying a royalty for the snippet that is equal to the royalty for full song lyrics.”

“Protecting the rights of music creators is a pillar of The Recording Academy, so we’re proud to work with sites like LyricFind that properly compensate songwriters,” noted Daryl Friedman, Chief Industry, Government & Member Relations Officer for The Recording Academy.  “We applaud LyricFind for setting an example in our industry, and are gratified to see our partnership will result in new royalties for our members.”
