Former KIOA announcer sues over job loss

Former announcer Dic Youngs has filed a claiming he was forced to retire from his job at KIOA because of his age.

Youngs claims in the lawsuit, filed Monday in Polk County District Court, that he was forced into retirement in 2007 at the age of 66. Youngs, who worked at KIOA for 41 , seeks unspecified damages from the ’s owner, Michigan- Saga Communications .

His attorney declined comment.

Saga’s general manager for the Des Moines stations, Wells, said it was Youngs who mentioned retirement. Wells says Youngs still works for Saga on nights on KRNT in Des Moines.
