Footaction, the premier lifestyle and athletic-inspired retailer, and Grammy-nominated music artist J. Cole, joined together to create “Own the Stage,” a one-of-a-kind design contest specifically for the music-inspired members of Footaction’s loyalty program, the Star Club. Members of the elite customer base were encouraged to design a custom t-shirt that J. Cole wore during his exclusive performance for Footaction’s Star Club members, fellow musicians, tastemakers and style influencers, held on October 19th, at the W hotel in Los Angeles, Calif.
Three first prize winners, Akinola Daramola (Woonsocket, R.I.), Aaron Williams (Pomona, Calif.), andAlex Romero (Edison, N.J.) received roundtrip airfare for two to Los Angeles, two-night hotel accommodations, an official meet-and-greet with J. Cole and spending money. In addition to the first prize components, the lucky Grand Prize winner, Damian Bradley, from Riverdale, Ga., received $5,000and bragging rights that J. Cole took the stage in his custom t-shirt design. The customized winning t-shirt design is available at all Footaction stores nationwide.

Rapper and record producer J. Cole was the first artist signed to Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation. “Cole World: The Sideline Story,” his 2011 album, reached number one on the US Billboard 200, Top R&B Albums andTop Rap Albums charts. Cole, who began writing his own lyrics at age 15, was nominated for Best New Artist at the 54th Grammy Awards.
