searcy-bio20 years in the game from the days when Hot 107.9 was Hot 97.5,  Emperor Searcy is an ATL radio legend.  He eats, sleeps, and breathes ATL everything. From music to sports, you always knew you could find Searcy reppin’ for the “A.”  According, AJC.com, Dwayne “Emperor” Searcy has been let go by Hot 107.9 due to the Radio One Atlanta budget cuts.

As reported by RFFocus CEO, Kevin Ross, Radio One had already let go of radio veterans, Carol Blackmon and Rene Miller.  In the end, we know that this isn’t about talent and more about money.  Only 5 days ago, it was reported that Radio One, Inc.  dropped 20.06% in the stock market over the last 4 weeks.

In a statement given to AJC.com’s Rodney Ho, Radio One said the cuts reflected their “need to redesign our operations to work more efficiently.” Adding “we are currently working through internal realignment plans to fill their day parts.”

No one could fill the shoes of Searcy, Blackmon, and Miller but we hope that whoever comes in can at least make their on new footprints.  We will keep you posted of any other changes.
