DJ Khaled Talks about Stepping Away from Radio to Make Hit Records

If you listen to any urban radio station and hear a song where some guy yells out, “We the Best” then you know you have heard DJ Khaled. Khaled is a hip hop record producer, radio personality, rapper, DJ and record label executive. He was once a radio host for the Miami-based urban music radio station WEDR and the DJ for the hip hop group Terror Squad. In 2006, Khaled wanted to give more to the music industry by sharing his other talents so he went in the lab Khaled and came out with his debut album Listennn… the Album. He went on to release We the Best (2007), We Global (2008), Victory (2010), We the Best Forever (2011), Kiss the Ring (2012) and Suffering from Success (2013).

In 2009, Khaled became the president of record label Def Jam South and he is also the CEO and founder of We the Best Music Group. Khaled is not ready to release his 8th album so of course he stopped by Power 105.1 to chop it up with The Breakfast club abouth his latest project. Charlamagne, Angela Yee, and DJ Envy took the conversation in several directions as they conversed about eveything from Khaled bringing artists together, not playing beef records, and how he has sustained a successful career in the music industry.

The convo took an interesting turn when Khaled talked about leaving radio and how he has maintained a great relationship with iHeartMedia. Check out the clip to see what else he had to say.
