NEW YORK (September 25, 2012) ““ Coming off of winning the MTV VMA Award for Best Male Video, multi-award winning and multiplatinum-selling singer, songwriter and producer CHRIS BROWN has announced the first leg of his “Carpe Diem” world tour that will begin on November 17 in Norway.
Released July 3 on RCA Records, “FORTUNE“ claimed the #1 position on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums and R&B Albums charts, according to Nielson SoundScan. The #1 Top Albums chart debut in the Netherlands and UK marked his first time achieving that feat in those countries.“FORTUNE“ also ushered in Brown’s career-best Top Album chart debut in Ireland and France at #4, Japan at #5, Canada at #6, Switzerland at #10 and Germany at #13.
In addition to claiming the #1 album on iTunes’ US Albums chart, Brown’s iTunes dominance included his first-ever #1 album in 5 countries: UK, Australia, Japan, Netherlands and New Zealand, and the #1 R&B/Soul album in 22 countries: US, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Canada, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, New Zealand, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia.
Brown’s single, “Turn Up The Music,” was the #1 single on the Official UK Singles chart and his first #1 single in that market. It was also the #1 single on the UK TV charts and the #2 single on the Official Australian Singles chart (ARIA). The “Don’t Wake Me Up” single was #2 on the Official UK Singles chart, #1 on the UK TV chart and #2 on the Official Australian Singles chart (ARIA). That track also reached #4 on the Nielson Euro Hot 100 airplay chart. Brown’s latest single, “Don’t Judge Me,” is moving up the Billboard charts and a music video will be released soon.
Brown’s current global supremacy is a testament to his natural-born singing and dancing talents, first showcased when he burst onto the scene in 2005 as a 16-year-old with “Run It!” from his self-titled debut album. The Virginia native followed up with the successful multiplatinum releases: “Exclusive” (2007), “Graffiti”
(2009) and “F.A.M.E.” (2011), which won Brown his first ever GRAMMY Award in 2012 for Best R&B Album.
