During the PD search, Kallao, who has just been named interim PD and is the station’s imaging producer and afternoon drive-time, will lead programming with APD Jordan Lee, who is also the station’s morning drive-time co-host.
The staffing changes follow the recent resignation of PD Mark Keefe, who joined 88Nine 3-1/2 years ago. “After helping get the station into a new, state-of-the-art studio complex and instituting a number of successful programming changes, I look forward to bringing my experiences here to new challenges,” Keefe said. Station Executive Director Mary Louise Mussoline said the station would retain its current format, an eclectic Indie Rock blend that includes hourly spins of Milwaukee music and short-form community stories.
Mussoline said Keefe’s accomplishments included instituting the station’s “Studio Milwaukee” performance broadcasts, developing a “Studio Milwaukee” CD series and revamping the morning show.
“Mark was responsible for significantly improving our programming and format, bringing more energetic, professional and appealing elements to the station’s sound,” Mussoline said. “We greatly appreciate Mark’s work to make RadioMilwaukee a stronger station and wish him the best.”
