The 4th Annual Gospel Goes to Hollywood Awards Luncheon (GGTH) hosted by actress Vivica A. Fox and TV host Roland Martin ignites expressions of joy, faith and gratitude to what some thought would be a less than joyful Oscar week with all the controversy surrounding diversity throughout Hollywood. The event was held Friday, February 26, 2016 at the historical and lavish Vibiana located in downtown Los Angeles.
This year’s Faith & Endurance Honorees included: Essence Editor-at-Large, Mikki Taylor and VP of Programming at OWN, Endyia Kinney-Sterns. The Behind-The-Scene Honoree was Emmy Award-winning casting director and producer, Robi Reed. And, the recipient of the Living Legend award went to actor, Richard Lawson, whose career has spanned over decades.
Upon arrival, guests lounged in the lush courtyard of the Vibiana where they were served mimosas and an assortment of tray passed hors d’oeuvres including the standout Duck Prosciutto Wrapped Scallop w/Garlic Nage and the Grilled Shrimp w/Harissa, while enjoying the excitement of watching celebrity guests and VIP’s as they arrived onto a media-filled red carpet where DJ Glenn Jackson provided uplifting Gospel Music!
The event embraced the spirit of belief from entertainment professionals telling their story of FAITH in hollywood.
“It’s very important to have this type of platform for the Hollywood Industry to Celebrate their Faith during Oscar Week,” says Tomeka B. Holyfield, Creator/Executive Producer.
Musical guests for the event included multi award-winning gospel saxophonist artist Angélla Christie who killed the place, award-winning gospel recording artist, Ami Rushes, and gospel-recording artists, Brigg Sterns, and new comer Altovise Ferguson. Other celebrities attending the event were: Glynn Turman, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Shaun Robinson, Renee Lawless, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Anna Maria Horsford, Rolonda Watts, Wendell James, LisaRaye McCoy, Jimmy Jean Luis, Malaysia Pargo, Sheree Fletcher, Ernest Thomas to name a few.
Uplifting and powerful acceptance speeches were taken in and digested well by all—from the heart-felt speeches of Mikki Taylor, Robi Reed, and Richard Lawson to the explosive testimony from OWN’s Endyia Kinney-Sterns, the audience never took their seats.
The celebration came to an unforgettable close when the guest artist, celebrities and honorees all joined together on stage for the finale praising to “We Left Our Hands In The Sanctuary.”
